Team Effectiveness

Team Building & Effectiveness

Are you looking for that "something" that will enable an existing team to become even more effective?  Do you have a new team and want to accelerate the team building process, thus reducing time it takes to reach its optimum performance?

We use tried and tested models to ask key questions of your team and its key stakeholders, then work with the team to put the foundations in place and develop those areas that will have the most impact.  The results incude greater clarity on and engagement with the team's purpose and its contribution to the organisation, clearer understanding of individual roles and their contribution to the team, improved team processes including communication and how decisions are made and, as a consequence, better team relationships.  We will help you to identify the changes you would like to see, then work with you to make them happen.

Partnerships & Coalitions

“Could we have more impact and reach more people if we did this together?” The answer is very often “yes”, however there are a number of things that it is critical to get right in order to achieve this outcome.  Besides addressing the due diligence, budgets, legal and resourcing issues, partnerships and coalitions succeed when the people aspects are addressed effectively.

These include identifying common goals, mutual expectations, and accountabilities; gaining the support of your key stakeholders and developing an effective communications strategy; addressing differences in organisational culture and personalities; and planning in advance what to do if things go wrong.  Achieving true collaboration between organisations leads to successful outcomes and motivated teams.

Valuing Diversity

In an increasingly diverse society there is an ever growing need for us to understand and build effective relationships with people whose world views are different - different to ours and different to each other's.  At J Hill Associates we firmly believe that the more you can become aware of how and why you think and feel the way that you do, then the more adept you will become at making meaningful connections with others.

We work with individuals and teams to raise their awareness of their own world views, discover the heterogeneous nature of culture, explore stereotyping and how to avoid its more negative consequences, and identify practical steps that go beyond ‘political correctness’ and legal obligations.

Clients report improved customer service, greater confidence in dealing with people who are different to themselves, and better working relationships.  Take a look at the case studies - they tell you what people have said about the impact on themselves personally.  How would it be if you too could achieve these outcomes in your organisation?

Re-motivating Teams

Been through difficult times?  You’re not alone.  All organisations go through difficult times, where employees are left feeling the loss of former colleagues and guilt for having survived.  We don’t believe in simply sweeping the past under the carpet - it can leave lumps that trip us up later!  We do however believe that by addressing the human effects of change programmes such as restructuring and redundancy, you can accelerate the recovery process leaving you better equipped to face future challenges.

Our solutions-focused approach helps teams to become enthusiastic about the future by acknowledging the personal impact of recent events, drawing a line under the past, and identifying practical ways to move on and to quickly return to optimal performance.

Managing Distance / Virtual Teams

Trends such as matrix structures, decentralisation, delivering through partnerships, and home working have led to a significant increase in the need to work across organisational, geographical and cultural boundaries. Successful teams do more than simply continue with their existing practices and processes, relying on technology to overcome the difficulties of distance management. They realise the benefits that the diversity of such teams can bring by taking a more explicit and deliberate approach to building relationships, tailoring roles and processes, and using technology in more innovative ways.

We help teams and organisations explore how to develop and maintain effective distance relationships, construct and lead successful virtual teams, and to use technology and existing organisational events more effectively.  Our approach is based on real experiences; having worked in virtual and distant teams as consultants, and with organisations that are getting it right.
